Whimsy! WOW!

Some more Whimsy WOW!

Yes, wow is right!  It has been a while since I have played with embossing powders and I had forgotten how much fun it was!  This card was created in collaboration with Whimsy Stamps and Wow! Embossing Powders.  There are so many elements to share about this card and below you will find some close-ups so you can get a better feel of what all I did.

Leave a comment for your chance to win some amazing goodies!  Hop ends April 18th and winners will be announced the week of the of 22nd April on both the WOW! Embossing Powder and Whimsy Stamps blog.

Creating the Cardbase and Tags

The base of the card was created using the fabulous Side Step Cardbase from The Stamp Doctor.  The link will be below for quick shopping.  It is a must for your collection.  After I cut out the cardbase, and before I folded it,  I die cut the upper portion of the card “step” with the tag using Tag Topper die to add a little more fun-factor.  Once I created an inner pocket a second tag was made using the same die but then adding the Lattice from the Lovely Lattice die set for texture on the tag.

Creating the Sentiment

I used my favorite chipboard sentiments from Make It Crafty.  You can get them direct from Make It Crafty HERE or grab some of the fun ones that Whimsy Stamps carries when placing your order in the US.  They carry a nice selection of the Make It Crafty Chippies.  If you decide to order from Make It Crafty you will be pleasantly surprised how inexpensive shipping is from Australia.

For the bottom layer of the chipboard I colored it using C10 Copic marker.  After coloring the top layer of the chipboard with my marker in green YG03.  Using my fabulous Nuvo Embossing stamp pad I just pressed the “hugs” onto the pad to get an even coverage.  Placing the upper layer of the chipboard in the embossing tray I sprinkled with the WOW! Clear embossing powder and heat set it.  All you have to do to finish it is glue the layers together with your favorite glue.

Creating the Featured Images

When I started the card I didn’t know quite which direction I was going with this card, but I did know I wanted to use the Butterfly Background stamp for a subtle background.

I embossed the background using the WOW! Clear embossing powder onto light green cardstock.   In order to make some of the butterflies pop off the page I chose to emboss the stamp again with the WOW! Ebony embossing powder over a green dot paper and then cut out the butterflies, glued down just the bodies and popped the wings up for dimension.

The Final Steps

The card still felt incomplete.  Yah, it was elegant, but I wanted dreamy…so I colored up Angel Arial then cut her out and adding her to the front of the card.  Lastly, I added some bling.  Now I have both elegant and dreamy!

I hope you enjoyed this hop as much as I enjoyed creating this card.
