Salty Hello

I have been a bit busy with “other stuff” the last few weeks, but just couldn’t resist taking time to get caught up so that I could showcase the latest Whimsy release.  It you haven’t taken a look yet you must check out the fabulous release full of mermaids, frogs, and beachy things.  I thought I would start with some fun beach huts for my first card.  Be sure and stop back in for more over the next few days.

Creating the Card:

I used the Farmhouse paper packet for this card.  Just because the name of the packet is farmhouse doesn’t mean you have to use for a farm card, and as you can see I chose to use it for this beach theme card.  I started out by using the wood paper, and cutting out a frame with the Notched Rectangles die.  This layer was placed over a textured white background that was created using the Thatched Slimline embossing folder.  I built the card up from there.

The huts, from Beach Huts clear stamp set, were colored, hand cut out, and then popped up off the card.  The large word and shadow “hello” was die cut, and placed over the bottom of the huts too ground them.  To finish off the cards I die cut three pieces of white cardstock using the Kinetic Straight Waves, and colored them.  These layers were popped up and separated using foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed this card, and don’t forget to pop over to Whimsy Stamps to check out the full release.

  1. Jennifer, I love your card and it reminds me of a stamp I have that says…”why buy a $7 card at a store when I can make it for $92 myself!”. It’s a wooden stamp and when I start ordering a lot online I go look at my stamp and stop buying (for a little while).
